Who is HARP 2.0 eligible for refinance under this enhanced program?
By now, if you are one of the nearly 11 million homeowner with a mortgage that is currently underwater, you’ve likely heard about HARP 2.0! Borrowers who fulfill the following criteria will, in general, qualify to be HARP 2.0 Eligible:
- Must be current on existing mortgage payments with no late payments within the last six months, and may only have had one late payment in the previous 12-months.
- Current loan-to-value ratio (LTV) must be higher than 80%.
- Mortgage must have been sold to or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac on or before May 31, 2009
- Mortgage must not have already been refinanced through HARP in the past, unless it happens to be a Fannie Mae loan that underwent a HARP refinance between March and May of 2009.
